Intense Interests and Play

Children’s interests are not just about learning, they are also about play. Even knowledge-intensive interests have rich potential for imaginative play. Children can act out what they know about cars, dinosaurs, or turtles, and build new understandings as they play.

And where there’s play, there should be play dough!  Homemade play dough has a place in almost any interest—and brown play dough was the best color for my children’s interests. (Click here to see our recipe for brown play dough.)
