Recipe for Brown Play Dough

Brown is the best color for play dough because it’s the color of dirt. When you add pebbles, toy trucks, wooden trains, or plastic dinosaurs, it’s almost like you’re playing outside!

“World’s Best Play Dough” Recipe

(adapted to make lots of brown play dough)

4 cups white flour

1 cup of salt

8 teaspoons of cream of tartar

4 cups water

4 tablespoons cooking oil

40 drops each of red, blue, and yellow food color (to make brown)

Mix flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a medium pot. Add water, oil and food coloring. Cook and stir over medium heat. When mixture forms a ball in the pot, turn out and knead on a flat surface.
